Our shop is ever-changing with new items arriving daily. We welcome you to come in and Browse and can guarantee you an interesting shopping experience. There is no place quite like Favors.

DONATIONS

From the time we opened, our shop has been self-sufficient, surviving only on donations from generous Pearland residents. We accept all items listed above plus more. However, due to Health Department regulations, we are not allowed to sell cloth furniture, mattresses or bed pillows. Favors can provide a tax donation receipt.

MONETARY DONATIONS

Favors for friends is a self-sufficient charity surviving on sales from donations, however, monetary donations enable us to supplement our Kids Christmas Fund.

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering is the cornerstone of most charities and churches. We depend on the help of our community to keep this store and the services we provide in operation. Some people volunteer for an hour or two, some stay all day. We also often work on the days we are closed. Duties include sorting, tagging, pricing and hanging clothing. Organizing and cleaning our store is a constant need also but not all jobs require standing. There is always something to do at Favors. You may call or stop by to inquire about volunteering.

CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS

If you own a business, are grateful and would like to give back, or if you work for a company that likes to get involved this is a perfect way to pay it forward. Company volunteering builds friendships, camaraderie and teamwork. There is no feeling like giving back. A paycheck can't even provide the feeling you walk away with when you volunteer at Favors. If you have no desire to work inside, we also have property that we have to pay to maintain. We would welcome a crew to take care of our minor lawn needs twice a month. That lawn care money could be applied to our Christmas fund instead.

PUBLIC RELATIONS BENEFITS

When your company volunteers at Favors you may use photos, videos and even drone shots for your Facebook pages and websites. This type of advertising money can't buy. Your clients and customers love to see your employees giving back to the community. Should your business become involved with Favors we would be proud to provide a link to your business on our website and Facebook page.

HONORS PROGRAM VOLUNTEERING

Many high school kids involved in honors classes are looking to do 30 hours of community service. Favors is the perfect place to fulfill your commitment. We have a very relaxed atmosphere and most of these kids are self-starters and we just turn them loose and let them do their thing. These kids rock and we love them! Welcome Honors Students!!

REQUIRED COMMUNITY SERVICE

Favors 4 Friends is not among the list of authorized Brazoria County approved businesses. However, some people get approval from the court authorities to fulfill their hours at Favors. For the well-being of our customers and the positive atmosphere here at Favors, we only take light offenders such as kids who skip school.

VOUCHER PROGRAM

From day one we implemented a voucher program which we call gift certificates. The Pearland  Neighborhood Center along with local shelters and churches have these gifts certificates available for people in need of clothing or home goods. Each year we distribute thousands of items all provided by donations.

KIDS CHRISTMAS FUND

People often ask… Where does the extra money go? Well there is very little extra money because of our low low prices in the shop but we do manage to pull off a fabulous Christmas Drive each year.   Our extra funds allow us to adopt 15 to 25 kids each Christmas outfitting every child with new shoes, socks, undergarments, clothes and toys.  Favors volunteers receive an extremely detailed list of sizes and wants and do the shopping, wrapping and tagging all gifts so it is extremely personal.   Every gift has the child's name on it signed from Santa.  Each family also receives a $200 gift certificate for groceries only. They cannot be redeemed for cigarettes or alcohol.

Who chooses the recipients of the Christmas Drive?

Until last year our families have been chosen by the Pearland Independent school District. In 2015, after an influx of distraught grandparents, we voted to adopt grandparents who are raising grandkids on their own.

We are a non-profit, volunteer operated store & donation center.  All profits will stay in our immediate area.  Our board members will vote on profit distribution and will post results in the store at the end of each year.

FINANCIALLY SPEAKING...

Rent.  $2500.00

Utilities $400-700 (time of yr variable)

Interior Maintenance $200

Lawn care $100 (seasonal)

Field mowing $100 (avg.)

We rented our building "as is".  Occasionally parking lot patching is needed.  We spent $900 in 2011 before opening and $600 in 2015.

While working at a charity thrift shop in another town we realized the need for this in our own community.  Right then we begin the search for space and after a lot of work and months of inspections Favors 4 Friends, or Favors for short, opened its doors in May of 2010.

In our short existence Favors has been recognized with two civic awards as well as kudos from Dawson high school.

Favors was founded by Lou Scardino, Eunice Gilley and Brenda Moore with the intention of making a difference...even if a small one.
